Third Sunday of Easter
Dear Church Family,
The Pastor will be out of town for a few weeks on vacation. I write this Pastor’s Pen on the wonderous gift of Himself for us and how He comes to us in the breaking of the bread. It says as we start the sacred gospel, “The two disciples recounted what had taken place on the way, and how Jesus was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.” This passage has lifted me up spiritually for years as I grow in appreciation of Jesus giving us His total self. Then he tells us as he appears to the apostles and they are so “incredulous for joy and were amazed at the tremendous gift of his whole self for the forgiveness of all sins.” Alleluia!
I often say, “God is good!” and I hear a response “All the time!” and then I say, “All the time,” and you say, “God is good!”. In our reading from the epistle of John he is proclaiming that if we did sin, “we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous one. He is expiation for our sins. Not only of our sins, but for those of the whole world.” The way we may be sure that we know him is to keep his commandments” and love, love, love. Alleluia!
Love Fr. Bob
