Dear Church Family,
All this week I am practicing and praying on a message I preached that you should be in awe at the symbol of the rainbow and to imagine a rainbow over you every time you come up for communion. In a couple of weeks we will celebrate the Sacrament of Anointing. We will also have you imagine you have a rainbow over you as we pray for healing for yourself and others. Finally the week after, we will celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation and we will also have the symbol of the rainbow over you confessing your sins. God really wants to love you! He really wants to bless you! He really wants you to be transfigured as we enter this second week of Lent! We desire that closer walk, that deeper union with the Lord and in a way with stillness and extra effort we will sense the presence of the Lord in a more profound way.
“It is good that we are here,” quoting the words of Peter. It is good for us to have this Lenten season to journey with our fellow members and many others. Also as Rebecca Torry likes to say, “There was a Ram in the bush” as we listen to the story of Abraham offering his son up in sacrifice if that is what the Lord wanted. When that wasn’t what the Lord wanted, then “There was a Ram caught in the bush.” We have so many reflections in our life where little blessings come our way and we can call them, “The Rams in the bush.” Name a few of them in your prayer life this week. Continue that wonderful image of Jesus being like a rainbow over you, blessing you and loving you totally as you receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion. God bless you in your second week of journeying.
Love, Fr. Bob
P.S. Up on the corner of the steps by the altar are the Rice Bowls. We hope you will take one and put it on your table to make your appropriated sacrifices from your fasting or from the giving up of any other things that remind you of how much Jesus loves you. Amen!
