Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you!

Sixth Sunday of Easter

Dear Church Family,

Since the very beginning of our Church, the leaders have met to decide how things would be done in the Church and to discuss matters of faith.  These meetings are called “councils.” We read today, in the Book of Acts about the planning for the very first council, which would be held to decide if Gentile Christians should be expected to follow the Jewish customs. We have had 20 more councils over the years, however, we  are still expected to follow the way that Jesus has set down for us which is to “love one another as I have loved you .” What a blessing we have with all the confusions, wars, and discords that are going on around us, we have held together for all this time. It is bound to be the power of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Alleluia!!  It is good to belong to such a wonderful church organization that has stood the test of time and continues on to this day to promote Jesus’ proclamation. With prayer of Psalm 67, we say:  “O God, let all the nations praise you.”

Even in our 2nd reading from the book of Revelation, we see that God continues to bless us with images of  divine protection and our churches stand here as symbols of the glory of God giving light from the Lamb, the lover of us all. Now, Church, we proclaim that the Holy Spirit comes so alive in being an example for us and teaching us that the Lord is the Center of  our life, prayer, and activities. So Jesus says to us, “Whoever loves Me will keep My word, and My Father will love him/her, and We will come to him/her and make Our dwelling within him/her.“   So, church, we are the Holy Spirit Church because the spirit dwells within us, not in the bricks and mortar, but within our souls and beliefs. Not just for us, but all churches who proclaim Jesus as Lord and Savior. Alleluia!!  Praise His Name! Over and over, I love to rest in these words which we hear so often,  “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you!”  Continue to study the Word, follow His Way, and Love one another. God bless and keep you in the palm of His hands!

Love, Fr. Bob
