Dear Church Family,
This is the 23rd year of our Palm Sunday Procession. Almost every year we have been able to go outside start in the yard, walk around the church, sing “Right On King Jesus No Man Can Hinder Me” and just have a good spiritual experience. Every year I try to really make immerse myself in the feeling of the crowd and give praise and honor (even to the extent I put down a good coat) for Jesus to walk over with His donkey. I like to wave the palm in trying to express lots of praise and adoration. Again this year we will do the same and every year it gets better as I enter deeper and deeper into this Palm Sunday Event. As you know, the mood totally changes from praise, thanksgiving, and singing Hosea, to when we come with our Lord Passion into Death. As we enter into the ugliness of all of that which I know is powerfully moving because my God did all of that for the love of you, for the love of me, and the love of the world. Again enjoy the Palm Sunday feelings and enter in as deeply as you can.
Wednesday night we will have our last Lenten Mass at 7 p.m. We always encourage one another to come and celebrate the high Holy days. Holy Thursday at 7 p.m., we will offer a symbol of our service to others with the washing of the feet, and celebrating the Lord’s Supper. Good Friday is always special with the walk around the neighborhood from 12 noon-3 p.m., in remembrance of the Lord’s passion and death by praying the Stations of the Cross. Good Friday evening at 7 p.m., we will have our traditional service with the veneration of the cross and the stripping of the altar. Holy Saturday, Easter Vigil will begin at 8 p.m. Then of course, Easter Sunday, we will hold our Masses at regular times. Church family thank you once again for walking with me on this Lenten journey.
Love, Fr. Bob
