Third Sunday of Easter
St. Augustine Church

Dear Church Family,

On this third Sunday of Easter, we see proclaimed in the Acts of the Apostles that the Sanhedrin tells the apostles to not teach the name of Jesus and his teachings. But the apostles feel that they have a divine mandate and just have to do it regardless. We see this attitude in the people of Ukraine and in other places that want to be independent, no matter what. The people might have to die for it just like the apostles did. So with this as an introduction, we can see our Lord challenging His followers to be totally committed. some scripture scholars think that the three admonitions to love the Lord and feed and tend His sheep is a way of Peter being reminded of the three times that he denied Jesus. Other scripture scholars see it as Jesus just saying, “Peace be with you” and I love you so very much and I know that you will carry on our wonderful ministry. So we, church family at St Augustine, feel compelled to keep living Jesus’ way as an active disciple. Telling others our stories and belief and promoting growth in faith. Alleluia!

Love, Fr. Bob
