Pastor’s Pen
Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
A Word from Fr. Bob
Dear Church Family,
Sometimes we might catch ourselves complaining and grumbling and not appreciating all the blessings we have but, just see the negative. So, it’s always a challenge for us to be people of gratitude and see the good side of things rather than the bad side. That’s our human nature. Saint Paul says when he proclaims, “put on the new self” and that self is created in God’s way in righteousness and holiness and it’s the real truth.
So, we see the Israelites complaining and grumbling and the Lord then gives them bread from heaven. Then we see in the gospel a lot of complaining and grumbling but then we see that there are new ways that Jesus finally tells us a very profound truth that by the bread of life, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.” By, with and through the bread of life we can be so grateful instead of grumbling, but it is part of our human condition. Don’t complain, be grateful! Alleluia!
Love, Fr. Bob
